Sap Hana is now a decade old, and it continues to tweak, improve, and innovate its services. Its senior Vice President, Christian Klein, has said that Sap Hana is the “heart and soul” of Sap. Database Enhancements
Improved privacy protections are a key component of the latest database enhancements. They have revamped data anonymization to bolster security with extra algorithms and retentions polices for the audit log. This includes anonymization models like L-Diversity. It is now easier to share data without compromising the security of your data. To further increase system security and to protect critical systems there have been improvements in high availability/disaster recovery. The new update allows multiple active secondary systems regionally, delivering faster access to data locally.
Advanced Analytics Processing
There is now support for in-database hexagon clustering, which will reduce sampling bias and aggregate geo-coordinates at much faster speeds. The new update will considerably reduce the storage footprint of geospatial data. You can now use the tools of your choice thanks to the expanded support for open source geo-services. They have developed new cloud APIs for historical weather and global forecasting. Ready to use statistical models will make creating custom models much simpler. A new intuitive labelling tool, powered by machine learning will identify landscape features in Earth observation models.
Application Development and Tool Enhancements
Sap Hana continues to provide useful and innovative tools to help you develop apps for your own needs and purposes. You can now expand the memory capacity of SAP HANA to 256gb via the express edition which is available from Amazon Web Services. This will allow you to create much more demanding applications. New compatible tools allow you to improve productivity when developing new applications. There is increased support for the cloud application programming model.
Data Management Enhancements
Sap Hana smart data access (SDA) has been enhanced to allow you to query remote data more effectively. Federated access to high availability Hadoop clusters is now provided. It is now easier to connect more remote data sources. Sap Hana can now manage warm data of nearly every type, on disk. You can now load warm data memory automatically when access is required for queries.
